Emerald City is a quarterly online literary magazine that focuses exclusively on the short story. Founded in 2019 by the creative writing program at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas, we publish stories from both emerging and established writers. We seek and publish stories that resonate—stories that surprise, stories that subvert, and stories that take the reader to places they’ve never been before. Through these narratives, we hope to foster a meaningful conversation among diverse readers and writers.
